He was such a great man and wonderful friend. Generous beyond belief and very wise mentor to me. I only wish I had had an opportunity to be around him more in our later lives. I think about and remember him almost daily, especially when I am as now in Galveston.

I know that Frank and Mary Grace are together again along with their son Prescott and daughter Cissy. Rest in Peace but know that you and your family are missed by all those that were privileged to be a part of your life.

Frank was a mentor and a friend. I'm am much of who I am today due to his guidance. He gave me my first horse, my first job and invited me into his family. I am forever grateful. With the greatest of sadness I say goodbye. On the other hand I know for a fact that he and Mary Grace and my mother and father Emil and Maxine Mesinger are once agin in party mode!

Mentoring and blessings I received from Mr. Horlock over 45 years:
He offered me a job as his assistant that he held for me for 3 months while my wife and I went to Europe.
He had a heart attack just before I went to work and could do more work on 1/2 days than I and his secretary could keep up with before he returned the next day.
He told me the biggest benefit of being successful was you could choose to be generous in your business transactions.
He suggested that I always pay vendors by return mail. In tough times it would help you more than the interest you could earn by not paying for 60-90 days, back when bank interest was a lot more than now.
He bought property on the west loop where the contract was for net feet but he had negotiated it on gross feet and that's the price he paid.
He had a private restroom where he hung 3-4 plagues with checks for $1 which represented the last dollar he had received from substantial investments that had not worked out. This taught me that you had to take chances to be successful.
The main act of business at numerous board meetings I attended with him was the discussion of charities to receive monies.
I was truly blessed by the life of Frank Horlock. My wishes and heartfelt sympathies go out to Christopher, Casey and the rest of the family.

Frank Horlock was the best man I ever worked for. I told a number of people that over several years and it occurred to me I had never told him. I wrote him a letter to that affect and he responded with a wonderful note in return on his neat Texas art stationary.
He was a fine Texan !
