Gertrude Calloway Obituary

Gertrude Savannah Stinson Calloway, a loving mother, grandmother, and friend passed away at her home in San Antonio, Texas on Friday, April 22, 2005 at the age of 80. She was born in Franklin, Tennessee. She was an Army World War II wife, world-class Southern cook, made over 20 hand-stitched quilts for family and friends, tilled the soil of God’s great earth, and enjoyed beating your socks off at bridge and poker.She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Irving Eugene Calloway. Survivors include one son, Ralph C. Calloway of Austin, Texas; two daughters, Elva Jean Maldonado of Corpus Christi, Texas and Paula Broadshoe of San Antonio, Texas; ten grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. The family requeststhat friends and acquaintances join them in a Memorial Service on Friday, April 29, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Corpus Christi Cathedral, 505 Upper North Broadway, Monsignor Michael Howell officiating.Please join the family for interment immediately following the service at Sandia Cemetery, Sandia, Texas and a reception following at 5038 Wooldridge, Corpus Christi, Texas.Funeral Arrangements provided by Dobie Funeral Home (361) 547-3224.
