James Chenault Obituary

James Kenneth Chenault, Sr. died January 14, 2006. He was born September 18, 1917 to the late John and Bess Chenault. He served in the U.S. Army for 32 years and retired as a full colonel. The medals he received were European-African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, American Defense Service Medal, American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medals (Germany and Japan ), Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal (1st. OLC); Army Commendation Medal (1st OLC); Expeditionary Medal (Korea); Meritorious Service Medal; Crux de las Fuerzas Teerestres-Venezuela; Abdon Calderon, 2d Class- Ecuador; and Legion of Merit. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Bess Ann Sandy Chenault McDevitt and a granddaughter, Michelle Rathbun. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ruth Richmond Chenault, daughter Nina Chenault Green (David) of Escondido, California, son, James K. Chenault, Jr. (Diana) of Corpus Christi, grandsons John Chenault (Annette) of Laurel, Maryland, John Aguirre (Sheri) of Lake Oswego, Oregon, Christopher Tesar (Sheri) of Saginaw, Texas, eleven great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 21, 2006 at the Protestant Chapel at the Naval Air Station, Corpus Christi. He will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia at a later date.For those wishing to attend the memorial service, in order to facilitate entrance onto the naval base, please call either the funeral home at 884-2411 or 1-800-375-6056. Please give name of driver and make and license plate of vehicle that will be entering. Please call by 10:00 a.m. Friday.
