James Starr Obituary

James L. "Dick" Starr, 73, passed away January 7, 2006 at his home. Mr. Starr was born November 8, 1932 in Pleasanton, Texas to William and Lela Starr. Dick was an oilfield man, before retirement he owned and operated J.S. Testing and Service. he was a U. S. Marine Corp veteran, serving in the Korean War. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, a charter member of the Dairy Burger coffee club in Alice, he enjoyed spending time at the family lake house, and one of his greatest joys was spending time with his grandchildren.Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Starr of Alice, Texas; two daughters, Stacy (George) Hunter of Houston, Texas and Tessie (Clint) Colle of Alice, Texas; one son, Jimmy (Tina) Starr of Cypress, Texas; five sisters and two brothers; seven grandchildren, Clint W. Alanis, Aaron and Eric Starr, Jamie and Aaron Colle, Sammy Ray and Gavin Koenning.Visitation will be Monday, January 9, 2006 from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Holmgreen Mortuary in Alice.Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Holmgreen Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow in the Alice Cemetery.
