Jane Goode Obituary

Jane Goode, 85, passed away October 31, 2004 in George West, Texas. She was born July 22, 1919 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Edwin and Irene Kinney.Mrs. Goode was a renowned artist but had a diversified career. During WWII she was the executive secretary to the legal officer of the Corps of Engineers in Miami, Florida. She also worked in advertising for WTSB Radio and the St. Petersburg Times. In 1955 she came to Corpus Christi as an account executive and radio - TV director with the Adcraft Advertising Agency and in 1976 she became the Executive Director for the Paisano Girl Scout Council. Her biography has been in "Who’s Who of American Women" when in advertising and again as an artist. Mrs. Goode served on the City of Corpus Christi’s Arts and Cultural Commission. She was on the board of the Art Center and has served on the Finance Committee of the YMCA. She was a past president and an honorary member of the Advertising Federation. She was on the Early Childhood Developmental Board, the Press Club board, the Girl Scout board, served in many capacities with the United Way and was on the President’s Committee to Hire the Handicapped. Jane was awarded the Silver Medal Award by the Advertising Federation for her contribution to advertising while working in the field. She was awarded the Y Women in careers award by the YWCA in 2003.Mrs. Goode was preceded in death by her husband Calvin Morris Goode in 2002.Mrs. Goode is survived by one daughter, Bonnie Stanton and her husband Collin of George West, Texas and two grandchildren, Haley and Carey Stanton of Houston, Texas.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 3, 2004 at First Christian Church, 3401 Santa Fe.In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions to the Art Center of Corpus Christi, the American Cancer Society, Paisano Girl Scout Council, or the First Christian Church.
