John Schmidt Obituary

SCHMIDT Orange Grove, Texas John M. (Boogie) Schmidt, 54, passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at his residence. He was born April 23, 1954 in Mathis, Texas. Boogie was a Marine Corp Vietnam Veteran, Commander of VFW Post 8920 in Orange Grove, longtime member of the Orange Grove Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church. He is survived by two daughters; Tiffany Schmidt of Annaville, Texas, and Brittany Schmidt of Orange Grove; one son, Matthew (Erin) Schmidt of Annaville; parents, Billy and Jeanette Schmidt of Orange Grove; one brother, Jimmy (Gloria) Schmidt of Orange Grove; eight grandchildren, Miranda, Stephen, Jr., Dominique, Alyssa, Kayla, Madison, Canon, and Major; two nephews, Jeffery and Jace. Visitation will begin on Friday, February 20, 2009 at 6:00pm at Dobie Funeral Home Chapel with the family being present between 6:00pm until 9:00pm. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 21, 2009 at 11:30am at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Orange Grove with Pastor Wade Fuhrken officiating. Interment will follow in the Sons of Hermann Cemetery in Orange Grove. Pallbearers will be Paul Schmidt and Sherman Miller with the VFD; Jeffery and Jace Schmidt both nephews; Allen Marciniak and Mark Verdin of the VFW. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Orange Grove VFD; P O Box 1228, Orange Grove, Texas 78372. Arrangements are entrusted to: DOBIE FUNERAL HOME 121 N.
