Juan B. Chavez (John John), 37, of Corpus Christi, Tx., passed away on December 14, 2016.
Juan was born in Corpus Christi, Tx. on September 26, 1979. He graduated from Del Mar College with degrees in Computer Science and Computer Programming. There he excelled at continuing his education. He often compared his brain to a computer, he would say I need more time to fill it with so much more data.
Juan is preceded in death by his grandparents, Juan C. Chavez Sr. "Tio", Hilario Benavides, and Antonia Deluna Benavides "Mom", great grandmother Julia C. Chavez "Ama", and stepmother Grace M. Chavez.
Juan worked as a Title V STEM Programming Tutor with Del Mar College. He Enjoyed anything involving technology, robotics, computer programming, fishing, and watching movies. He was also actively involved in the education of his nieces, nephew, sisters, and cousins.
Juan is survived by his father, Juan S.Chavez Jr., mother, Sylvia B.(Valentine) Molina Sr., Elvira S. Chavez, brothers, Jesus B. Chavez and Valentine(Samanda) Molina Jr., sisters, Sylvia Ann (Julian Santos) Chavez, Jalyssa Molina, and Nevaeh Molina, nieces Julie Ann Chavez and Irma Marie Cuellar, nephew Ryan Z. Molina, step siblings, Azalia Renee (Servando) Reyes, Mark Martinez, Roxanne Jasso, and Aaron Jasso, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Juan is preceded in death by his grandparents, Juan C. Chavez Sr. "Tio", Hilario Benavides, and Antonia Deluna Benavides "Mom", great grandmother Julia C. Chavez "Ama", and stepmother Grace M. Chavez.
Our beloved "John John" will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Corpus Christi Funeral Home with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Interment to follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.

I got to know Juan during the fall semester of 2015. He was a very knowledgeable guy and turned out to be really funny. The tutoring center ended up being a place where I went to work or sometimes jus hang out and mess around with Juan and his co-workers Richard and Michael. I didn't go as much to the tutoring center this past semester but did stop by a few times just to chat with Juan. He was a very funny guy and we shared a mutual appreciation for the various academic challenges college had to offer. He used to say if "you weren't struggling then you weren't really learning", something we would debate every now and then. I am deeply saddened by the news of his passing and my condolences go out to all of his family and friends. R.I.P. Juan.
