Lamar Bowden Obituary
Alice, TX
Lamar Bowden, age 76, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 3, 2017.
Lamar was born on January 2, 1941 in Bentonville, Texas to Elsie Odell and William Curtis Bowden.
He attended Agua Dulce schools and after graduation in 1959 attended Texas A & I University in Kingsville.
He started his career with 6 years at Schlumberger before he started in the car business in 1965. In 1990 he bought Bowden Ford.
Lamar was an avid golfer, hunter, and fisherman. He was a devout Christian who loved the Lord, his family and friends. The Bowden Ford employees were his extended family who he loved dearly. He was a member of The Grove Baptist Church in Orange Grove. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, he will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his infant son, Jason Lamar Bowden, and his brothers, Wayland Bowden, Hoyt Bowden, and James Bowden.
Lamar will forever be in the memories of his loving wife of 47 years, Carole Tipps Bowden of Sandia, his two children, Curt (Misty) Bowden of Calallen and Carrie (Robert) del Alamo of Alice; five grandchildren, Austin (Kaitlyn) Bowden, Brooklyn Bowden, Jason Bowden, all of Calallen, and Radley del Alamo and Landon del Alamo, both of Alice; his great-grandchild, Lacey Bowden of Calallen; and his sister, Wilma Bland of Corpus Christi.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with Family receiving Friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Holmgreen Mortuary in Alice.
Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at The Grove First Baptist Church with Pastor Steven Gaither officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be offered to The Grove First Baptist Church, P. O. Box 565, Orange Grove, TX 78372-0565, or to South Texas Children's Home, P.O. Box 1210, Beeville, Texas 78104-1210.
Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Alice, Texas.
Arrangements are entrusted to Holmgreen Mortuary, 2061 E. Main St., Alice, Texas.
