Lupe MartinezCorpus Christi, TXLupe Martinez, age 84, passed away on June 10, 2016, in Corpus Christi, Texas. Lupe was born on October 7, 1931, to Jose and Petra Martinez in Corpus Christi, Texas. Lupe served his country as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps and was a proud veteran of the Korean War. He retired after 20 years as a waiter and bartender at the Corpus Christi Town Club. He loved barbecuing, watching Dallas Cowboys football and spoiling his grandkids. Lupe was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend. Lupe is preceded in death by his wife, Epifania Martinez, and a brother, Rudy Martinez. Lupe is survived by his daughter, Rosario (Adolfo) Rodriguez, grandchildren: Stephanie (Jorge) Coello, Sarah Rodriguez, and James Rodriguez; great-granddaughter, Carolina Coello, brothers, Joe Escobedo and Ricky Martinez, sister, Fina Guzman, and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at Seaside Reid Chapel, 4357 Ocean Dr., with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m., that same evening. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, June 15, 2016, at the Seaside Reid Chapel, 4357 Ocean Dr. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to Lupe's providers and caregivers from New Century Hospice for their kindness and services during his last year.
