Lynn WhiteCorpus Christi, TXEvelyn Clements White, age 94, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to everyone she met passed away on Friday morning, August 22, 2014 at her home surrounded by family. Evelyn (Lynn) was born in Putnam, Texas on January 7, 1920 to John Albert Clements and Helen Pond Gilbert, and moved to Cisco, Texas as a young child. She graduated from Big Spring High School and later moved to Corpus Christi, Texas where she graduated from Corpus Christi Junior College. While there, she had a blind date with, who would become the love of her life, Jack Edgar Allen White. They married on December 10, 1940. During WWII, Lynn taught school in Robstown, Texas. In 1952, she and Jack settled in Corpus Christi, Texas. She served in many clubs including Lawyer's Wives Club, Driftwood Garden Club, and Belltristic. She was an active member in the First Baptist Church, teaching Sunday school and actively participating in Bible Study for many years. Her passion was bridge, which she shared with Jack and their wide circle of friends. Upon Jack's death, Lynn relocated to Trinity Towers where she was surrounded by old and new friends that became her family, including the service staff of whom she was particularly fond. Lynn will be remembered for her ability to make people laugh and her red hair.Lynn was preceded in death by Jack, her husband of 70 years; two sons, Dr. Robert A. White, John White; son-in-law Bill Ellison; parents; sisters, Gwen Strickland, Lucile Weiner; and her brother, Byron Clements.She is survived by her daughters, Margaret Ellison of Laguna Vista, Texas, Mary Sue (Whitney) Gladstone of San Diego, California; five grandchildren, Wendy White Naughton (Dominic) of Chicago, Illinois, Will Ellison of Waco, Texas, Tyler Ellison of Laguna Vista, Texas, Lynne (Brian York) of Lake Arrowhead, California, Jeffrey Gladstone (Natalie) of San Diego, California; beloved niece, Gwen Weiner of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and great-grandchildren, Hana and Evan Naughton, and Curren York.Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 25, 2014 at Seaside Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at First Baptist Church with a reception to follow in the church parlor.
