Mark Kaspar Obituary

Mark Kaspar

corpus christi, TX

Mark Kaspar went home to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 22, 2017. Mark was born on March 8, 1958 in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Method (Mike) Kaspar and Delores (Mikulik) Kaspar. He was a 1976 graduate of King High School, Corpus Christi, Texas. Additionally, he graduated from Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and St. Edward's University, Austin, Texas. Mark held masters' degrees in both business administration and legal mediation.

Mark was a hospital purchasing agent for St. David's Hospital in Austin for many years. For the last seventeen years of his working life, he was a contract specialist and director of contracts and procurement for the Texas Procurement Office, State of Texas. He retired in October 2016 and moved from Lakeway to La Grange to be near his brothers.

Mark will be remembered for his gentle, loving and kind manner, his terrific sense of humor and most importantly, his tremendous Christian faith. He enjoyed jogging, marathon runs, and was an avid reader. He believed in giving back to community and was active in several charities. His giving nature was evidenced by the last act of his life-donating his organs and tissue to other human beings.

Mark leaves behind his loving sister Gloria (Mark) Henson of San Antonio; brother Tom (Beth) Kaspar, of Odenton, Maryland; brother Jim (Christine) Kaspar of Fayetteville, Texas; and his eldest brother Mike (Susie) Kaspar of La Grange, Texas. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home, 208 W. Pearl, La Grange, Texas 78945. Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Grange, Texas on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow services in the La Grange City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be his three brothers, along with brother-in-law, Mark Henson, and nephews, Scott Kaspar and Zachary Henson.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Texas Lions Camp, Texas Eye Bank and charities of one's choice.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home, 208 W. Pearl, La Grange, Texas. Family and friends can view and sign the guestbook online at www.lagrangefunerals.com.

Mark was my Lead and Manager in Statewide Procurement at the Comptroller's Office. Throughout the last several years, we shared many stories and events about growing up in Texas. He was always ready to smile and play a practical joke on the unsuspecting. He was always ready to listen to a perspective or problem and offer a solution. You will be missed dearly my friend.

My deepest sympathy to Marks family. Mark, one of my memories of you will be your soft voice and beautiful smile. Thanks for always being there when I needed assistance while you were in Tax Allocation section. You will be missed!
Rest in Peace Mark.
