Marshall Voris Obituary
Marshall Voris, Ph.D., internationally known psychotherapist, neuroscientist, theologian and educator died at his home of a heart attack at age 48. The world has lost a brilliant man with a beautiful spirit who devoted his life to healing and helping others. Dr. Voris garnered international acclaim for his research in the field of Neuroscience and as developer of the Serenity program. He founded Delos Mind~Body Institute for the betterment of humankind. His desire was to provide a place of healing in which the individual is empowered to maximize their potential based on the best treatment neuro-psychology and traditional spirituality have to offer. His passion came out of a desire to inspire people to meditate and discover the God within, the source of all healing. He believed that there could be no true healing without addressing the integrated individual - mind, body and spirit. Dr. Voris was sought out by the Texas court system as well as local, national, and international media sources as an expert witness, consultant and educator. In March 2003, he appeared on the Dr. Phil show as an expert on understanding and treating sex offenders. Dr. Voris and his wife Dr. Shirley Good were recently knighted for accomplishments in their field. Dr. Voris and Dr. Good were appointed Prior and Prioress of Delos Priory of The Sovereign Order of the Orthodox Knights Hospitaller of Saint John of Jerusalem. They also founded Hallow Place, Inc., the parent organization of Delos Mind~Body Institute and The International Institute of Integrative Medicine. Dr. Voris read, wrote and studied voraciously and had a unique talent for connecting with his patients as well as people from all walks of life including peers, other physicians, and Knights from around the world. He communicated in a way that challenged all to take responsibility for their own path in life. Dr. Voris earned four doctorate degrees and an honorary M.D. in his short lifespan; served on the Texas State Medical Board for Acupuncture; advanced the use of technology and ancient science in the field of Integrative Medicine; and was an acclaimed psychologist, acupuncturist and healer. His life's work was dedicated to making the world a better place and to work with individuals and communities in the transformation process. St. Irenaeus stated, "The Glory of God is Man fully alive." This is the epitome of the life of Marshall Voris. At 2 p.m. on Friday, August 8, we will celebrate the life of Marshall Voris at Corpus Christi Cathedral.
