Marta M. HerreraSinton, TXBeloved mother and grandmother, Marta 'Martita' Herrera died on December 2, 2013 with her family by her side. She was the only daughter of Martina and Victoriano Melendrez. She is preceded in death by both of her parents and her husband, Jose Herrera. She is survived by her children: Marcela Martinez (Teo Pizana) of Odem, Valentin Herrera (Irma) of Kingsville and Julia Herrera of Sinton, seven grandchildren, one step grandchild, 10 great grandchildren, 11 step great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and five step great- great grandchildren. Martita was a self taught seamstress who sewed and mended the clothes and hearts of those whose lives she touched with her hands and her words of wisdom. She was also an avid gardener who tended to her plants and flowers much like she cared for her family and friends selflessly giving of herself to help out anyone who needed of her service and kindness. She enjoyed playing bingo and being a friend to both young and old in the small town of Sinton. She will be remembered by all as Dona Martita the feisty, independent and strong grand lady she always was-wise from life's lessons with a spirit of love and light that ceased to shine upon us on December 2, 2013 after lighting up our lives for almost 94 years since God blessed us with her life on earth on December 11, 1919.
