Oscar Estes Obituary

Mr. Oscar Revis Estes, Sr. of Corpus Christi passed away on August 9, 2005 at a local hospital in Corpus Christi at the age of 92. He was born on September 30, 1912 in Coleman County, Texas.Mr. Estes was a former minister of churches in Uvalde, Camp Wood, and Barksdale and a longtime rancher. He was also a former high school Spanish teacher.He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mittie Estes; two wives, Mattie Estes and Ruby Estes; brothers, Ethel, Devillar, Odell, and Rodgers Estes; sister, Novell Shutter, and infant grandson, Aaron James Estes. He is survived by his wife, Norene Estes of Corpus Christi, Texas; daughters, Virginia Powell and husband, William Kenneth of Montell, Texas; Karen Najar and husband, Nick of Corpus Christi, Texas; Stormy Shogren and husband, Stephen of Wichita, Kansas, and Barbara Devoll of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sons, Oscar Revis Estes, Jr. of Montell, Texas; John David Estes of Uvalde, Texas, Daniel Brogden of Corpus Christi, Texas and Jon Tod Estes and wife, Kaylynda of Leakey, Texas; sisters, Ethel Wheeler of Corpus Christi, Texas and Edna Pearl Robertson of Houston, Texas; brother, Cleo Estes of Comanche, Texas; 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.Mr. Estes will lie in state on Friday, August 12, 2005 at 12:00 noon at the Rushing-Estes-Knowles Chapel in Sabinal, Texas.Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. in Sabinal Cemetery.
