Richard Louis Weisman, known as Dickie, went to be with God on November 16, 2018. Dickie was born on January 15, 1924 in Mission, TX to Dr. James Henry Weisman and Gertrude Strack Weisman. Dickie was one of eight children raised during the time of the Great Depression and early in his life learned self-reliance and the value of a dollar. He graduated from HM King High school in 1942 and immediately enlisted in the Air Force to fight in World War II. He married the love of his life Mabel Dorothy Carson in May of 1949 and in 1950 Dickie graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A & I University in Kingsville. In 1951 Dickie was recalled into the service to serve in the Air Force in the Korean War. In 1953 Dickie left the service and went to work for Celanese in Bishop, Texas, as a mechanical engineer where he worked for 29 years, retiring in 1982.
In the course of his 69-year marriage, he raised four children. As a husband, Daddy, Grandpa, and Great-Grandpa he always could be known as a man who "Lived a life with honor." This was part of his makeup that he also instilled into his family. His special loves were fishing, hunting, playing golf, and his dog, Puppy.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy Weisman, children Caroll Weisman of Waxahachie, Bunnie and Steve Bessel of Waxahachie, Mona and Barry Christensen of Riviera, and Bud and Esther Weisman of McAllen. Dickie was blessed with nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Thursday, December 6, 2018 from 5p.m.- 9p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary. Graveside service will be held Friday, December 7, 2018 at 10 a.m. at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery, in Corpus Christi, Texas.
