Robert Monroe White, Sr. January 26, 1940- July 2, 2015At 3:36 a.m., July, 2, 2015, Robert Monroe 'Tubie' White Sr., while facing towards his wife, Hazel, slowly and peacefully took his final breath.He was born to the late Robert 'R.B.' White and Hastine Jones, January 26, 1940, in Yoakum, Texas. Preceding him in death, even before his birth, was his father, Robert White who died as a result of an automobile accident and years later, his mother Hastine Jones Washington in 1983. Many years ago, he lost an infant son, Keith Monroe White. Only 10 years ago he suffered the sudden loss of his oldest daughter, Robin White Green. Other close relatives who have gone before him are his sisters: Martha Lee Washington Boone, and Helen Washington Jefferson; his loving aunts, uncles and cousins, and his devoted stepfather, Lonnie Washington, whom he spoke of often, and had great love for.He is survived by his devoted wife of almost 50 years, Hazel Carol Childress White, whom he met on her 19th birthday, married two years later, and never parted thereafter, his surviving sister, Jessie Mae White Simon (Sun City, California), and Dolores Washington (Riverside, California); his brother, Lonnie Washington Jr., his son, Robert Monroe White Jr., (Kansas City, Missouri), his daughters, Angela Tuggle Fisher, (Los Angeles, California), who was a great comfort at his bedside the last two weeks of his life and Sherri Annette White Comfort (Simi Valley, California); his grandchildren: Enrae' Jacoy Green, Kiantraea Rochelle Green, Michael Eric Fisher Jr., Nicole Terese Marie Fisher, Sherri Annette's two daughters and son, and his youngest grandson, Robert Anthony Xavier White, whom he had the privilege of helping to raise the latter part of his life; his great granddaughter, whose photo he was proud to see shortly after birth.Robert graduated from West Oso High School while working for his Stepfather's construction company during his childhood and high school years as well as various jobs during his lifetime. Upon his education, he immediately enlisted in the Marine Corps, trained at Camp Pendleton, California, and was stationed in Japan, Thailand, El Toro, California, Quantico, Virginia, and Camp Lejeune, Jacksonville, North Carolina. After proudly serving his country in Vietnam from 1967 to 1968, he traveled extensively throughout the completion of his career, and finally settling in Kansas City, MO with his family.Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, July 16, 2015, at Maxwell P. Dunne Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 17, 2015, at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Interment will be at 12:00 noon, at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery with military honors.
