Roy Barfield Obituary

Roy Edward BarfieldCorpus Christi, TXRoy Edward Barfield, age 59, passed away on March 19, 2015. He was born on June 25, 1955 to Quincy Thomas and Leona Mae Barfield in Trinidad. He graduated from Flour Bluff High School in 1973 and enlisted in the U.S. Airforce. He married his wife of 28 years on June 6, 1987. Roy was employed by Driscoll Children's Hospital for 18 years and then was self-employed. Roy was a loving father, son, brother, cousin, husband and uncle. He enjoyed participation in building and flying model R.C. airplanes with the airplane club. He will always be remembered for his love of laughter and never missing a day of completing the daily crossword puzzle.He is preceded in death by his father, Quincy Thomas Barfield; mother, Leona Mae Barfield; and brother, Quincy Thomas Barfield, Jr. Roy is survived by his wife, Mary Cathern 'Cathy' Barfield; daughter, Kimberlee Mincey; son-in-law, John Mincey; siblings, Linda Blair, Susan Cahillane, David Barfield, and Richard 'Mike' Barfield.A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 27, 2015 at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery on I37 at Rand Morgan, Corpus Christi, Texas.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in Roy's name, to Charlie's Place Recovery Center, IH37, Corpus Christi, Texas 78408.To view tribute, please visit www.seasidefuneral.com.
