Susan Throop Obituary

Susan J. Throop Corpus Christi , TXSusan Jean 'Susie' Throop, 53, died Monday afternoon, October 29, 2012.Born February 19, 1959, to James and Marjory Throop, Susie was a life-long resident of Corpus Christi, Texas. She attended Robert Wilson Special Education classes and was currently at Brush Country Activity Center. An active participant in Gary's Raiders bowling program, Susie also was a Special Olympics competitor for many years. She enjoyed swimming and water aerobics at the YWCA and traveled extensively with her family all over the western United States as well as Canada and Alaska. Knitting and making afghans for family and friends to enjoy was also a favorite pastime.Susie was employed for nine years at Trinity Towers and Holmgreen Center and was an enthusiastic employee who always wore a smile and initiated conversation.She attended St. John's United Methodist Church and was a member of the Faith Links Sunday School class. She was preceded in death by her father, James Throop.Susie is survived by her mother Marjory (Marge); two sisters, Vicki (James) Cooper and Karen Throop of Corpus Christi; Uncle Quinton Williams and his family; seven cousins in Vancouver, Montreal, and Toronto, Canada; and an aunt and cousin in Austin, Texas.Following a private graveside service, a Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 2, 2012, at St. John's UMC, 5300 S. Alameda. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Susie's name to St. John's United Methodist Church.
