Thomas Marcus Belian

Corpus Christi - Thomas Marcus Belian passed away August 31st, 2020, with family by his side. He was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico on February 12, 1934, the third of 6 children. His mother struggled to provide for them as a single parent. Tom graduated from University of New Mexico (Aggies), having participated in a work program that took him to Oregon as a lumberjack for 6 months of the year to pay college tuition. This instilled a work ethic not seen in this day in age. After graduating with a degree in Electrical Engineering, he ended up in Corpus Christi, TX, where his father resided. Louise and Gladys at St. Luke's United Methodist Church got Tom together with Jane Willingham and after a short courtship the two were married. After a stint with CPL in Alice, TX, Tom was offered a teaching position at Ray High School. He eventually ended up working at the Corpus Christi Army Depot where he was employed for more then 40 years, retiring at age 76.

He was a hardworking man with as many as 3 jobs at a time to provide for his family and ensuring they were all exposed to the arts and other creative endeavors. As a member of the projectionist union he worked in many theaters and ran a spot light in Memorial Coliseum shows, often bringing one or more of his children along.

He will be remembered for his wit and his constant tinkering and his inability to stay seated for family events. He was always on the move. He and his wife enjoyed close to 30 cruises seeing places all over the world that most of us will never see.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jane, four children Barry (Tami), Julie (Holly), Laura (Casey), and Elizabeth. Six grandchildren, Leila (Will), David (Sonja), Marla (Chris), Lindsey (Marc), Sara (Joey), Andrew and many great-grandchildren. His sisters Joan (Jim), Judy (Danny) brother Richard (Mary), and dozens of nieces and nephews. Our many thanks to Sara and Erma for their loving care of him and his wife.

Visitation will be at Maxwell P. Dunne Funeral Home on Yorktown, Wednesday September 9th at 10:00 a.m. with a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m., followed by Interment at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
