NANCY A. BELIAN Nancy Belian, 89, of North Las Vegas, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2021 in her sleep. She was born May 31, 1931 in Portland, Oregon. She moved to Las Vegas from Phoenix, AZ in 1956. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Charles P. Belian Jr. Together they enjoyed roaming the hills and deserts in Nevada and Death Valley, CA with their six children. Nancy was a Gold card member of IATSE Local #720, Stagehands and Wardrobe, where she worked as a seamstress and wardrobe attendant for shows such as Lido de Paris/Stardust, Fire & Ice/Hacienda, City Lites/Flamingo, Folies Bergere/Tropicana, and Ces't Magnifique/Aladdin, to name a few. She was a graduate of CCCC (CSN) with Associates Degrees in Data Processing and Hotel Management. Nancy was a founding member of the Las Vegas chapter of the Fiber Arts Guild. She enjoyed spinning, weaving, natural dying and all other aspects of the fiber arts. Nancy gave demonstrations at local schools, Renaissance Fairs, Something Scottish and Helldorado Days. Both Nancy and Charles believed in keeping the children active in quality organizations and many outdoor activities. The Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts played a big part in our lives and became a great influence in the lives of the whole family. They stayed involved and volunteered to help whenever and wherever they could. She is survived by her children; Michael (Sandy) Rogers, Suzynne (Edward) Fowler, Donovan Belian, Patricia (Karl) Elliott, Pandora (Mark) Basham, and Russell (Lily) Belian; grandchildren, SFC Casey Elliott, Erin (Brian) Ostopuck, Zachary Basham and Sydney Basham; her sister, Sandra Becher; and a great-grandchild due in May. In accordance with her wishes, she was cremated at Desert Crematory in Las Vegas. A "Celebration of Life" will be held at a later date due to COVID-19 restrictions and we will be welcoming all extended family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada and/or Boy Scouts Boulder Dam Area Council.
