Tommie Zulauf Obituary
Tommie ZulaufALICE, TXA love has been reunited as Tommie Ann Gill Zulauf joined her husband, Walter, at Heaven's gate on March 19, 2015. She was born in Waco, Texas on September 13, 1927 to the late Myrtle Watkins Gill and E. P. (Hap) Gill.Tommie grew up in a hard working family where they farmed in the Waco area until the Great Depression. During this difficult time, they lost their farm and her father moved the family to Alice, Texas where he became a gauger in the oil field. Even though the family no longer had a farm, Tommie was destined to become a farmer's wife. During her senior year at William Adams High School, Tommie met Walter Emil Zulauf and instantly fell in love. She and Walter were married soon after high school graduation and spent 47 happy years together. As a family, Walter and Tommie worked on their farm, raised two children, were active members of the Alice community, and served the Lord at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Tommie worked for a short time as a beautician and at the local gift shop in town, however, her true career was that of a farmer's wife. She was devoted to Walter and never left his side. Once her children were grown, Tommie and Walter were known to spend much of their time traveling across the United States. After Walter's passing, Tommie continued exploring the world with many of her friends and made her grandchildren and great-grandchildren the focus of her life as this brought her great joy.Tommie is preceded in death by her husband, Walter E. Zulauf; her parents, Myrtle and E. P. Gill; her sisters, Mozelle Gill Fluitt and Violet Gill Spracklen; her brother, Elbert (Buddy) Gill; and granddaughter, Jennifer Gayle Rose.
