David C. Paulson

1955 - 2023

Edgerton, WI - David C. Paulson, age 68, of Edgerton, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Sep. 30, 2023, at his home. He was born in Edgerton on Aug. 24, 1955, the son of the late Floyd and Jeanette "Joyce" (Hanson) Paulson. Dave married Marilyn "Marni" Thorsen in 1978, later divorcing. He married Sheryl "Sherri" (Decker) Smithback on Oct. 6, 2012 at St. John Lutheran Church, Edgerton. He was employed as a farmer, co-owned and operated Superior Driftwood, and later worked for UW Hospital Transportation Services. With all of that, Dave still put his family first. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved watching his grandkids after school which they affectionately called "Bumpa Care," taking them to the parks to play, and being at the many pool parties hosted at Jorma's house where he could continue to play with them. Dave also enjoyed watching the Badgers, Brewers and Packers, camping, listening to the radio and family gatherings.

He is survived by his wife, Sherri; 2 children, Jorma (Vannesa) Paulson of Edgerton, Jaime Paulson of Delta Jct., AK; 2 step children, Nicole (Bobby) Voliva of Cottage Grove, and Stacey (Jeremy) Wiley of Edgerton; 7 grandchildren: Ava and Ella Voliva, Max and Mia Wiley, Rorek Floyd Paulson, Melia and Alara Paulson; 2 sisters, Lynn Schultz of Oak Creek, and Bonny Kumlien of Janesville; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded by his parents.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023, at the APFEL EHLERT FUNERAL HOME, 315 Lord St. (Hwy 51) Edgerton with Rev. Carl Seeger officiating. Burial will follow in Fassett Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of services at the APFEL EHLERT FUNERAL HOME.
