William Dase Obituary

William Gilbert Dase Jr William Gilbert Dase, Jr.

William (Bill) Gilbert Dase, Jr went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 23, 2024 at the age of 83. Bill was born March 13, 1941, in Mobile, Alabama to the late William Sr and Inez Dase.

Bill is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jean Dase; sister, Sherry Dugan of Drippings Springs, Texas and her husband John; son Brian and wife, Les; son Carl and wife, Marcy; son Carroll and wife, Monica; his beloved six grandchildren, Ashton Hobbs (husband William), Madeline Dase, Aaron Dase, Elle Dase, Piper Dase and Cannon Dase; and his great grandchildren Shawn Hobbs, Nora Hobbs, Emmett Hobbs and Aspen Hobbs.

Bill graduated from Roswell High School in New Mexico in 1959. He attended New Mexico State University where he studied mechanical engineering and joined the ROTC. After graduating, Bill served in the United States Air Force where he achieved the rank of Captain and received the Commendation Medal. After serving in the military, he earned his master's degree in engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. Bill married Jean Ray Lester on June 9, 1962, in Cameron, Texas surrounded by family and friends.

Bill's engineering career began with Alcoa, then he joined the Texas Railroad Commission in 1977 and moved his family to Kilgore, Texas. During his 30 years with the Railroad Commission, he was the regional manager of the natural gas pipeline safety division. While living in Kilgore, Bill and Jean made a loving home on 15 acres outside of town where they raised their three sons. Bill loved working on projects and teaching his sons many skills like building barns, tending a garden, raising animals and driving a tractor.

After raising their sons, Bill and Jean moved to central Texas living in Austin and San Antonio and soon began their life of retirement. They enjoyed traveling including cruises to the Caribbean and Mediterranean and several road trips around the United States.

Bill's life was centered on Jesus, family, and friends. He was a loving husband, father (daddy), brother, son, uncle and Pa. He was happiest when he had all his family together and everyone could watch his beloved Longhorns win.

Corinthians 15:54-56

When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: "Death is swallowed up in victory." "O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?"
