Carol Stringer Obituary

Carol A. Stringer
“Together Again”
age 82, born May 4, 1935 in Massillon, Ohio passed onto Heaven August 11, 2017. Preceded in death by her parents Lewis and Velma Barnes; husband Louis Stringer, whom she married in 1957; sister and brother in law Bette and John Kohl. Survived by her three children Valerie (Farrar), Jeffrey (Beth) and James.
Mom was a very unassuming person remarking at times that she had not accomplished much over the years - but nothing could be further from the truth. Mom learned the value of self-reliance early in life and carried this trait with her faith in God through-out her life. She graduated from Washington High School in 1954 and had played trumpet in the Tiger Swing marching band for 3 years. She would meet her future husband in 1956, married in 1957 and shared 56 years together until his death in 2013. Mom had three children and did as well as any mother could to the best of her ability. She was always busy working at home and also outside the home.
She spent 19 years at Canton Drop Forge as a grinder having the distinction of being the first woman hired, September of 1978, since the World War II era. Mom had worked previous jobs before CDF, however this one proved her most physically challenging, but her tenacity won out. She was a compassionate person with others and never turned a stray cat away. Mom also spent many years fishing with dad at Mogadore Reservoir and then cooking their catch for us all to enjoy. So looking back over mom's life she had accomplished much more than she thought. Mom will be greatly missed by all of us but we rest in the comfort of knowing she is no longer suffering from the pain inflicted upon her from Scleroderma. Many heartfelt thanks to Dr. Betsy Baum and her caring nursing staff at Bethany Nursing Home and to mom's special OTA Shelby.
As per mom's request she will be cremated with no calling hours or service. A memorial service at a later date will be planned. Any donations maybe made in mom's memory to Stark County Humane Society, Canton Baptist Temple Camp CHOF Ministry or The Scleroderma Foundation.
