Charles Kennedy Obituary

Charles M. Kennedy 1953-2017
64, of Massillon, passed away very unexpectedly early Tuesday evening, Sept. 12, 2017. Born in Canton, August 8, 1953, a son to Robert and Lorein “Ruth” (Hoey) Kennedy, Jr., Chuck graduated from Washington High School with the Class of 1971. He had worked as a die setter for the former Ecko Housewares in Massillon, from 1975-2005, and had considered a career change into nursing after learning the company planned to close its doors. Instead he received his CDL and joined Green Lines Transportation, Inc. in Malvern and had been a driver with them for the last 12 years. A member of First United Methodist Church in Massillon, Chuck was also a two-service veteran; honorably discharged from the USMC and retiring as a Staff Sergeant after more than 20 years invested in the Ohio Army National Guard. A devoted husband and a loving dad, grandpa and great-grandpa, he enjoyed hiking and the outdoors with yearly trips to Mohican and Nelson's Ledges State Parks, walks and sledding at Oak Knoll Park, trips to haunted houses and riding his daughters on the back of his Harley – even riding with them when they were older, are among the memories the family will cherish.
Predeceased by his mother, Ruth; and a granddaughter; Chuck is survived by his wife of nearly 46 years, Patricia A. “Patty” (DeGordon) Kennedy, of the home; daughters, Christina O. Hayes Kennedy and Lori L. McCabe, both of the area; there are ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his father, Robert Kennedy, Jr., of California City, Calif. and brother, Nathan “Nate” Kennedy, of Buckhannon, W.Va. and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening, Sept. 19, 2017, at Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home in Massillon. Pastor Julia Wertz will officiate and military honors will follow. The family will receive condolences Tuesday from 5-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. To sign our on-line guestbook, please visit, www.atkinsonfeucht.com.

I loved Chuck. We went all through school together and we also worked over 25 years together at Ekco Housewares. He was so kind, a complete gentleman. We had a lot of serious conversations and also a lot of fun. I've missed him since Ekco and I will also miss that big smile. May God Bless You. To the Kennedy family, you have my deepest sympathy. Sincerely, Vickie Rohr.
