Daniel Killilea Obituary

Daniel Killilea

Born in Nutley, N.J. on December 14, 1945 and passed away March 26, 2021 after an extended and courageous battle with chronic health problems. Parents were Edward and Dorothy Killilea. He is survived by his ever-loving and devoted spouse, Linda Killilea (DeNisio); sons, Douglas, Christine and Donald. Two granddaughters, Chloe (13) and Jaqueline (9); brother, Thomas; sister-in-law, Carolyn.

After graduating from Nutley High School in the class of 1963, Daniel attended New Jersey Institute of Technology (NCE) on a full-academic scholarship and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1967 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Daniel again graduated from NJIT (NCE) in 1973 with a master's degree in mechanical engineering. Daniel went on to hold positions as a licensed professional engineer with the title of chief engineer throughout the United States and in multiple international countries. He was often described as having meticulously detailed work and was a total workaholic in the development and deployment of mechanical technologies for which he held several patents. Daniel taught in faculty positions at several universities including Kent State University. Upon retiring from engineering, Daniel began a plumbing business and was often known for his benevolence and free services to those in need throughout the community including local churches and homeowners. Paramount to all of Daniel's academic and professional achievements, Daniel loved his family, friends, and the beach beyond any measure. Despite his global travels, his top priority and motivation was to the successes of his children and spouse. He would often begin conversations with a lighthearted joke and try to bring a smile to everyone's face especially his granddaughter's and wife. Daniel's absence at family gatherings, holidays, and daily life will be painfully missed by all who were blessed to have known him but most of all his beloved family.

Friends may call Wednesday from 8:30-10 a.m. at the Lamiell Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Michael the Archangel Catholic Church.
