Donna J. Schoener 1949 - 2016
67, of Massillon, passed away peacefully at her home late Friday afternoon, November 18, 2016. Born in Massillon, November 8, 1949, a daughter to the late John and Isabell (Young) Schoener, she graduated from Tuslaw High School with the Class of 1967. A life-member of Faith United Methodist Church in North Lawrence, Donna was a very private but a very active person. She retired from Ansell-Perry after 37 years of faithful employment and in her leisure time enjoyed golf and bowling; she played softball and loved to read and to travel. She was always most comfortable in the company of her large and loving family – sharing the news and the fun and the banter across the generations.
Predeceased by her parents; her sister, Nancy Lee Schoener and brother, Thomas J. Schoener; Donna is survived by her siblings, Doris (Woodrow) Hart, of Massillon, June Merreot (and Cordell Garrett), Betty Wright and Mary Shanklin (and Danny Wiseman), Linda (Richard) Weller, all of North Lawrence and Roy “Bud” (Sandi) Schoener, of Navarre. Also surviving is a host of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday morning at 11 at Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home in Massillon. Rev. Harry and Rev. Mary Lou Merryman will officiate and burial will follow at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive guests one hour prior to the service, from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. The family extends their most sincere thanks to the staffs of Tri-County Oncology and Great Lakes Caring Hospice for the gentle care Donna received.
