Although I met Doug only once--appropriately while golfing with him--I have to agree with the comment in his obituary, that he "had the ability to make each person he met feel exceptionally special." It was several years ago, but I still remember the golfing advice that Doug gave me: Not just to keep my head down, but to keep it still. For me, tough advice but good advice. My memory might not be accurate, but I thought Doug told me that he had had seven holes in one. When I asked him what his lowest score ever was, he told me 30--and that he was more proud of that than he was about the holes in one. No matter which number is accurate, the fact remains that Doug was a great guy.

Joyce and family, so sorry to hear of the passing of Doug. I am so sorry you have become a member of a club that isn't fun to belong to. I became a member a year ago this last August.
Please know I'm thinking of you during this difficult time.

I first met Doug at the Hoover Co. We were both car nuts with a passion of muscle cars. We went to each others weddings. He was such a good friend. As our lives continued, I lost track of Doug. He sure had a zest for life as I read this. Prayers for Joyce and his family, for strength, love and peace. I have always had fond memories of Doug and the others in our group of car enthusiast. May God bless all of you. Rest well my friend.
