Elsie Mercier Obituary
(Trumpeter)
Mercier
age 96, died Wednesday after a short illness. Born in Alliance, she lived in Canton most of her life. She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church.
Preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Mercier; son, Dr. Robert K. Mercier and a brother, Karl Trumpeter. Survived by a daughter, Nancy J. O'Neill of Canton; son and two daughters-in-law, John D. and Sharon Mercier of Canton and Gayle Mercier Rutledge of New Albany, Miss.; seven grandsons, Robert J. O'Neill, Dr. Brian S. O'Neill (Anne), Robert P. Mercier (Amy), Dr. Douglas C. Mercier (Linda), Marcus K. Mercier (Janine), David A. Mercier (Paige) and Michael D. Mercier; 15 great-grandchildren and a brother and sister-in-law, William and LaRue Trumpeter of North Canton.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Astoria Nursing Home for their compassionate care. Family and friends will meet on Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial with Fr. Robert Lanterman as celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 10-11 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Astoria Nursing Home Patient Activity Fund. The Lamiell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be made to:

Our sympathy goes to Pat's family. We have known Bob & Pat for many years and had the utmost respect for both of them. Pat was always very considerate and kind to our family.

Sorry to hear about Pat--My husband and I went to GHS with Dr. Bob, and we were friends for long time--My Mom, Edna and Pat were friends, also.

Elsie was the sweetest patient I have had. She never complained about Physical therapy and she always had something to say that would make us laugh or smile!! From the first time I worked with her last year I will fondly think of her when I watch her handsome man on the Mentalist!! She became very close to our hearts as did Nancy! May God bless you in this difficult time!! Love Diane Donaldson, PTA, and all the Astoria therapy staff!
