Eugene Mac Kress Stallman
Eugene Mac Kress Stallman, 92, born April 11, 1915 in Marietta, Ohio, formerly of Canton, Ohio, died February 13, 2008 at home at 138 Twin Bridge Rd., Gaffney, SC. He was a Hoover Company retiree. He was preceded in death as a child by his birth parents, George Stallman and the former Elma Miller, and an infant sibling, Robert Stallman; as well as cousins, Eugene and Cora Kress by whom he was raised. He was also preceded in death by another brother, Clarence Stallman, and a sister, Marie Stallman Johnson Cartier. Survivors include his wife of 72 years, the former Ethel Gay McKimmie, his daughter and son-in-law, Nedra and Daniel Shaw, four grandchildren and spouses; Susan and Brady Griffin, Cynthia and Andy Donahue, Danielle and Wayne Robertson, and Craig and Hope Shaw. Also, there remain 13 great grandchildren, 16 great great grandchildren, and a niece, Jean Marie Johnson Carter of Walkersville, MD. Following cremation provided by White Columns Funeral Service, a private service was held by family members only at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Hospice of South Carolina, 1612 N. Limestone St., Gaffney, SC, 29340; Meals on Wheels, PO Box 1886, Gaffney, SC, 29342; or White Columns Funeral Service, 102 N. Rutherford St., Blacksburg, SC, 29702

What a wonderful man!

I worked with Gene at the the Hoover Company for a short time in the fall of 1952. He was a very pleasant person to work with. It was he who pointed out a pretty young lady who would sometimes look down from an upper story office window and who eventually became my wife, and still is.
