Franklin Maisano Obituary

Franklin Maisano 1933-2015

Born Sept. 30, 1933. A longtime resident of Greenwich, Conn. passed away of natural causes on Aug. 10, 2015 in Rye Brook, N.Y. surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Newark, N.J. He lived in New York City, as well as Canton, Ohio where he graduated from McKinley High School. A proud graduate of Michigan State University, he also attended NYU Business School and was a graduate of Advanced Management Program of Harvard University. He served as President of Equitable Variable Life, CEO of Integrity Life and National Mutual Life in the US. Prior to that, he served as President of Manhattan Life Company for more than 20 years.
He was predeceased by his mother and step-father, Esther and Nicholas Guttilla of Canton, his brothers, Salvatore of Union, N.J., Lawrence of Canton, and a niece, Mary Jane Vanderpyl. He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Phillip Maisano, Esther Rosenthal, Therese Schneider, Sarah Marks, and Rose Ann Collinsworth, as well as many grand nieces and nephews, who dearly loved him.
He received numerous awards and recognition for his charitable endeavors which included the Madison Square Boys and Girls Club, a board member of the ASPCA, and the Family Service Association. Franklin was stricken with polio at an early age, was disabled all of his adult life, however, after a series of amazing successes, he would often say his disability never defined him rather it made him stronger and more determined. His example will live on with all who knew him. He was a good man, loved and respected by all.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015 at 10 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 3430 Fulton Drive NW, Canton, Ohio 44718. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name can be made to the Second Chances for Animals, PO Box 35706, Canton, Ohio, 44735, Attn.: Lynda Marshall

Franklin was a friend of our family for almost 40yrs. He was a lovely man adored by our children Kim, Graham (now deceased) and Erika. He was always ready to fly to where we happened to be living at the time, to spend time with us and the children and join their little worlds.
These we have loved - these fragile fleeting things that touch our lives with beauty - and are gone
Sleep gently dear Frank, you will always be in my heart

Missing Frank. Always a half-full glass kind of guy, I'll always remember him making me laugh as a kid and opening his home to visits whenever I wanted when I was at college in Massachusetts. Lover of dogs, I'll never forget his love for Boomer. And his cries of "I'm coming Boomer!" while driving down the Merrick Pkwy. He was an original. You'll always been in my thoughts, Frank.

Thanks for the great memories when I was a teen. Cleaning the office on a Sunday morning in NYC and driving Esther and I around Greenwich Village. You will always be fondly remembered.
