Frederick Loomis Obituary

Frederick C. "Fritz" Loomis
Frederick C. "Fritz" Loomis, age 76, of Magnolia, passed away Sat. morning in Aultman Hospital after an illness of two months. He was born in Canton, a son of the late Frederick C. and Lois Mitzel Loomis, Sr., and had been a resident of Magnolia most of his life. Fred was a 1950 graduate of Magnolia High School and also a 1956 graduate of Mount Union College after returning from the Service. He retired in Dec. of 1994 from Grodhaus & Young Inc., after eight years service, where he worked in the Parts Dept. Previously he had been President of Magnolia Mining Inc. Fred was a member of Magnolia United Methodist Church, where he had taught the high school Sunday school class, and the Magnolia Lions Club. He served the Village of Magnolia as a councilman, and was on the Board of Quad Ambulance District. Fred was honored as Citizen of The Year during Canal Days in 1979. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. Survived by his wife and best friend, Faye O. Loomis, with whom he would have celebrated their 55th Wedding Anniversary on Dec. 9th; one daughter and son-in-law, Susie and Oscar deLeon, of Sarasota, FL; three sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Wendy Loomis, of Magnolia, Mike Loomis and Robin Diamond, of Bolivar, and Jeff and Steph Loomis, of Magnolia; one sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Carl Disher, of Centerville, OH; one brother and sister-in-law, David and Carolyn Loomis, of Magnolia; eight grandchildren, Steve, Travis and Clay Loomis, Nick McClelland, Sara, Lexi and Kaley deLeon, and Michael Thomas; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Zebby. Services will be conducted Wed. at 11 a.m. in Magnolia United Methodist Church with Rev. Steven M. Smith officiating. Interment in Magnolia Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday 5-8 p.m. at the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia and Wed. 10-11 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Fred's memory may be made to either Magnolia United Methodist Church, PO Box 417, Magnolia, OH 44643, or the donor's favorite charity. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff and doctors of Aultman Hospital for the wonderful care they gave to Fred during his stay there.
