Dr. Duncan's wit, knowledge, dedication and enthusiasm were a great inspiration to me. He was one of the reasons I entered teaching and remains in my thoughts on a daily basis. My deepest sympathy to all his friends and family.

Dr. Duncan thought that I and fellow student Michael would be an interesting and well matched pair. He invited us both to take a seminar about American Intellectual History. This December we will celebrate our 27th wedding anniversary. I am blessed daily by Dr. Duncan's intuition. My deepest sympathy to all his friends and family.

I was saddened to hear of Dr. Duncan's passing. I remember him as a kind and gentle human being with a droll sense of humor. His anecdotes and puns during class piqued my interest in what I had considered a very dry subject. Even today when some of us get together, his name comes up. He will be remembered and very fondly.
My condolences.

What a blessing to have had Dr. Duncan in this life. By example he taught how to live a life that valued teaching and learning, truth, family, and church. I am better for it. Sympathies and prayers to Nancy and family. His presence is not gone, just changed.

Dear Mrs. Duncan and Family, MaryEllen and I share your sorrow at this time- our thoughts and prayers are with you. I have very fond memories of Dr. Duncan in the classroom and around campus. I still remember when you and he would lead all your young kids into the old campus center for 11am Sunday Mass with Fr. Hickey- what a great family! He was a true role model for how to be a good Catholic father and husband- not tomention one of my favorite profs.
Sincerely, Dan Cunningham

Dr Duncans' legacy will live on in the lives of so many of us who were his students. Even as he faced his own mortality, he was able to teach medical students about the value of a life well lived. With gratitude....

An advocate and master of helping his students replicate the great insights and values of the great minds of the past, George/Bill will be remembered by former colleagues as friend and exemplar. While never able to offer adequate thanks, my family and I pray for him and his family now in their grief.

The McCarthy family extends their thoughts and prayers to the Duncan family at this time. Dr. Duncan was an incredible history teacher and I learned more than history from him.
