Gordon J. "Red" Slicker, 77, of Massillon, died, Sunday, October 21, 2007, at Mercy Medical Center in Canton, after a brief illness. He was born on Wednesday, October 15, 1930, in Massillon, and was a life resident. He was employed by Goodyear / Loral as a pipefitter, retiring in 1988 after 35 yrs of service.
Member of St Mary's Catholic Church He was a member of U.A.W. 856 He is survived by wife, Angela Slicker of Massillon; four daughters, Connie, Margie, Shirley, and Jane; son, Jason Slicker of Massillon; and one brother Clete Slicker. He is also survived by seven grandchildren two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by mother, Clara I. (Chapman) Slicker; father, Albert Slicker and two brothers, Carl and Tom Slicker. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Mary's Catholic Church on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Edward Gretchko celebrant. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, in Massillon, OH. Visitation will be at Heitger Funeral Service - Massillon Chapel on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 from 6-8 p.m. and Heitger Funeral Service - Massillon Chapel on Thursday October 25, 2007 from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Memorials can be made to St. Mary Church and Memorial Fund 726 1st St. NE Massillon, OH 44646.
