Gwendolyn Ann Willis 1925-2017
92, of North Canton, died peacefully Friday, August 25, 2017, at Woodlawn Compassionate Care Center. Ann had a long and wonderful life and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Ann was born April 5, 1925, to Gwendolyn and Roy Wasem in Canton. She lived her entire life in the Canton area, which she dearly loved. Ann met William L. Willis right after World War II and they were married in 1949. They had two sons, William H. and Jeffrey H. Ann was a devoted wife and loving and supportive mother. She was active for many years in the First Baptist Church in Canton, and later years at Zion United Church of Christ in North Canton. She volunteered many hours and her friendly demeanor was appreciated by many. Ann also worked for many years in the kitchen at Maxie's Drive-In in North Canton. Her husband, William L. preceded her in 1988.
She is survived by her son, William H. (Kathy) of Newport, RI, and son, Jeffrey H. (Laurie) of Canton. She is also survived by five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at Zion United Church of Christ, 415 South Main Street, North Canton. Interment will be at Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call from 10-11 a.m. on Tuesday, one hour before services at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Woodlawn Compassionate Care Center, 2821 Woodlawn Ave. N.W., Canton, OH 44708. Arrangements under the direction of Karlo-Libby Funeral Home.
