Herman Phillips Obituary

Herman W. Phillips
Herman W. Phillips, age 109, of Canton, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather, passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2006 in the McKinley Health Care Center following a recent illness. Herman was born September 28, 1896 in Powhatan Point, OH to the late Erv and Bell (Gordon) Phillips. Herman was a former coal miner and farmer. Survivors include his daughters, Helen Rohrbaugh of Louisville, Wilma Morris of Louisville and Bette Hill of North Canton; his son, Starling Phillips of East Canton; ten grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his devoted wife, Iva May (Adams) whom he married September 2, 1918 in Belmont County, and a son, Harold. Funeral services for Herman will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Paquelet-Falk Funeral Home of Louisville with Rev. Donald Moss officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Peace Cemetery in Hartville. Friends may call Saturday from 9-11 a.m. at the funeral home.

My condolences to Ms. Bette & family. Herman lived a very long life and is now at peace in Heaven. I only knew him about a year, and loved to hear him laugh. He always seemed to like when I visited him, always reached out to hold my hand. I will remember him for that & how he dearly loved the rootbeer & pie that Ms. Bette brought for him...
