Jaime Llamas Obituary

Jaime Llamas
Jaime Llamas, age 89, passed away Sunday evening, April 30th at his home. He was born on November 4, 1916 in Saratoga Springs, New York. His parents Nemesio Llamas and Maximina Perez lived in the United States for six years before returning to Spain. Jaime was raised in Carbajales de Alba, Zamora, Spain. His sisters Ema and Aurora and his brother Nemesio survive him. Jaime served in the Spanish Civil War (1936-39) as a general's aide stationed at Franco's command headquarters. Jaime married Maria Rodriguez in 1944, and in 1954 they immigrated to Canton, Ohio, where they have lived since, spending many summers in Spain. Jaime retired from Republic Steel in 1981. He kept up with his many friends, meeting them at the food court of Canton Center Mall. He was a member of St. Benedict Church and later St. Joan of Arc Church. Jaime had a tremendous zest for life and an extraordinary sense of humor. He never walked when he could run. He was a boxing fan and a constant gardener, always trying to outsmart the rabbits in the yard, so he could share his harvest with neighbors and his many friends. He leaves his devoted wife of 61 years, Maria. Jaime Llamas is the beloved father of Arbolina Llamas Jennings (Gray), Jim Llamas (Bonnie), Mary Llamas Courtney (Michael), and Romero Llamas (Denise). He doted on his grandchildren--Marisa, Alexandra, and Andrew Jennings; Skyler and Jake Courtney; James and William Llamas, and most especially, his very favorite, Sophia Llamas. The family of Jaime Llamas wishes to thank the many individuals who helped care for him during his brief illness. He greatly valued their care. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, May 5, 2006 at St. Joan of Arc with Rev. Fr. William Kraynak officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call REED FUNERAL HOME CANTON CHAPEL on Thursday, May 4, 2006 from 6-8 p.m.
