James Kortis Obituary
August 8, 1937-April 3, 2016
passed away peacefully in his home after an extended illness. Born in Canton to the late Nick and Beaulah (Fisher). Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Gates; brother, John and granddaughter, Kari Anne. Survived by his sister, Evelyn (Al) Maier; children, Beth Kortis of Canton, Jimmy Kortis (Belinda Gore) of Raleigh North Carolina, Cindy (Frank) Perez of Canton and Steve (Tina) Kortis with whom he made his home. Jim had seven grandchildren, two great-grandsons and was expecting his first great-granddaughter, Veronica Justine Sayre to be born in May. Three nephews and a niece also survive.
Jim was an avid bowler rolling five 300 games. He loved fumble ball, golf and his Chicago Cubs and Bears. He loved spending time with family and friends and if you had a minute he always had a joke or two to tell.
Calling hours will be 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Thursday, April 7, 2016 with the service following at 8:00 p.m. with Corey Kemp officiating at Paquelet Funeral Home, 1100 Wales Rd. N.E., Massillon, Ohio 44646.
