Jean Gwin Obituary

Jean M. Gwin
Age 84, of Alliance passed away, Friday, July 24, 2009, at Alliance Community Hospital.
She was born April 21, 1925, in Alliance, to Dr. Harry and Olive (Shontz) Weaver.
Jean was a graduate of Alliance High School and went on to receive her Bachelor of Science Degree from Mt. Union College. She then graduated from the former St. Luke's Nursing School. Jean was employed at Alliance Community Hospital until her retirement in 1986.
She was an active member of the First Christian Church. Jean was also a member of the Alpha Xi Delta Sorority for over 60 years and active in many family and social clubs. She enjoyed knitting, dancing and was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her son, George Gwin of Alliance; her daughter, Kathleen (Thomas) White of Fairlawn; four grandchildren Ashley, Brendan, Ryan and Nicholas; one sister, Artina Powell of Plymouth, Michigan and a brother-in-law, Dr. John Saffell of Sebring. She was also survived by her special friends, Dick and Doris Livengood, Nan, Nell, and Babe.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Helen Saffell.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at First Christian Church, with Pastor Pam Bruno officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the First Chrisitian Church, 1141 W. Beech St. Alliance, Ohio 44601.
