Joseph Capes Obituary

Joseph 'Mike' Capes
age 61 of North Lawrence, passed away on Friday, Jan. 25, 2013. He was born on Oct. 27, 1951 in Canton, Ohio to Joni Capes and the late Howard Capes. Mike graduated from Akron University with a Master's degree in Special Education. He was employed by Stark County E.S.C. and was assigned to Northwest Local School District as Special Education Director.
He loved the outdoors and took thousands of pictures wherever he went. He and his wife Barbara enjoyed taking their three dogs for walks.
Mike is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Barbara and seven step-children, Jack Blakney, Matt (Terri) Blakney, Kevin Blakney, Stephanie (Craig) Jorza, Deirdre Blakney, Denise Beringer and Jeff (Angela) Blakney. Also surviving are eight grandchildren; his mother, Joni Capes and his sister, Bridget (Ron) Coffman.
A memorial service to celebrate Mike's life will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 30 at 11 a.m. with Celebrant, Kevin O'Brien officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home and on Wednesday one hour before the service.
The family would appreciate memorials in Mike's name to the Stark County Humane Society, 5100 Peach Street, Louisville, OH 44641.
