Seaman, Jr.
age 79, died Tuesday after a long illness. Born in Beaver, Pa., he had lived in Canton the last 40 years. Leonard graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and worked as a professional engineer at Chemstress Consultant Company in Akron and as a Consulting Engineer at Union Carbide in Charleston, W.Va. and also at Blackhawk Automotive in Alliance/Mason. Leonard was a 'tinkerer' and was constantly building and fixing things. His proudest accomplishment was designing and building the family home. Leonard was a member of Church of the Savior United Methodist. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Patricia Gibson Seaman; parents, Leonard E and Helen DeMuth Seaman; his sister, Phyllis Seaman Ringwald; and brother, Daniel D. Seaman.
He is survived by two daughters and a son, Kathy (Tom) Fiala of North Canton, Karen Allcorn of Maui, Hawaii, and Leonard E. III (Tami) Seaman of Edison, N.J.; seven grandchildren, Lauren and Lindsey Fiala, Natalie and Helen Allcorn, and Justin, Brendan and Ethan Seaman; sister-in-law, Shirley Pow; niece, Paula Soto; and a great-niece, Cassidy Soto, all of Beaver, Pa. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Joseph Care Center for their compassionate care.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Church of the Savior United Methodist with Rev. Edward Fashbaugh officiating. Friends may call Friday from 1–2 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in The Beaver Cemetery in Beaver, Pa. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Church of the Savior United Methodist at 120 Cleveland Ave. SW, Canton, OH 44702.
