Margaret Nara Obituary

Margaret J.
(Fitzpatrick) Nara
Unconditional love, and a selfless devotion to family, faith and community defined the extraordinary life of Margaret J. (Fitzpatrick) Nara, 77, who, surrounded by her family, passed away on Monday, Aug. 26, 2013. 'Maggie,' as she loved to be known, was born in Findlay, Ohio, on July 20, 1936. She was the only daughter of Emmanuel and Sarah Fitzpatrick. Maggie was graduated from Findlay High School and began a career at Ohio Bell Telephone before marrying the love of her life, Gene 'Coach' Nara in 1955. Together for nearly 60 years, Maggie and Gene went on to have eight beautiful children, 22 grandchildren, and one great-grandson. The Nara family relocated to Naples, Fla. in 1977, and soon thereafter Maggie was blessed to become a member of the St. William Catholic Parish. Maggie's passionate commitment to her faith and church extended through her tireless work in the Catholic Cursillo Program, Catholic Family Movement, RENEW, small faith sharing groups, pre-marriage classes for engaged couples, religious education teachings, and most recently through her love of the Prayer Shawl Ministry. Maggie's love of the church and the St. William Parish was infectious; her smiles, hugs, and remarkable faith sharing will continue to touch many lives for years to come. One of Maggie's finest qualities was her sense of community, and her desire to encourage and support others. Maggie assisted and supported Coach Nara through many wins and losses during his high school coaching years both in Ohio and Florida. Maggie's involvement in the educational communities in Ohio and Collier County was extensive, and she provided spiritual counsel and advice to countless people everywhere.
Maggie is survived by her husband, Gene; and their children, Frances Campbell (Milton) of Houston, Texas, Jeanne Nealon (Don), Mary Myrmo (Kevin), Lisa Collins (Don), Rachel Kirk (Brian), Hope Cliff (Cary), David Nara (Amy), all of Naples, Fla., John Nara (Abel) of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; and her brother, John Fitzpatrick (Karen) of Findlay, Ohio. Maggie was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, James and Dick; and her daughter, Margaret Fitzpatrick Nara.
All Memorial Services will be held at St. William Catholic Church, 601 Seagate Drive, Naples, FL 34103. Visitation will be held 5-8 p.m. in the Church Sanctuary on Friday, Aug. 30, followed by an evening prayer vigil led by the Pastor Reverend George Ratzmann. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, Aug. 31 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, Maggie's family has requested that donations be made in Maggie's name to Laces of Love, a charitable foundation that provides new shoes to needy school children in Collier and Lee counties. Checks can be made payable to: Laces of Love, 1976 Bethany Place, Naples, FL 34109.

Coach,
My condolences to you and your family. Reading Maggie's obituary brought back a rush of memories of growing up in Upper Sandusky. You and Maggie were always generous with your friendship, encouragement and support to many of us stumbling along in our high school years. You both truly contributed to all that was wonderful about growing up in that community. When I visited you and Maggie after your move to Massillon, I was delighted to see you had both continued your path of “unconditional love and a selfless devotion to family, faith and community.”
May her memory be a blessing.

Dear Mr. Nara and Family,
Please accept our most sincere sympathy and prayers for the loss of your dear wife, sweet mother, and loving devoted grandmother, Maggie.
Yours is a modern day biblical "love story", authored by God, who always remained the center of your lives. Your love stood out, exemplifying the holiness of a life lived in Christ.
Thank you for your beautiful example!
As Maggie continues to live "spiritually" in our hearts and in all things beautiful and good, God's promise has been fulfilled in Maggie. May her soul rest in peace until we meet again.
And may the Lord bless you and keep you,
His face shine upon you, and give you peace.
Blessings to all of the Nara family,

Mr. Nara and family,

You, Mrs. Nara and kids came into my family's life over forty years ago in Tiffin, OH as a coach and teacher at Calvert High School. You and my parents became instant friends and your influence is still felt even now. I remember my mom and dad getting involved in Cursillo at St. Mary's because of your influence.

Every time I think of Mrs. Nara, (I still can't bring myself to call her Maggie since my parents insisted I address adults respectfully) I picture her beautiful smile and her warmth, her love of family and most importantly her love of her faith. I believe with all my heart that she is with my mom in heaven now and Maggie and Alice are catching up after all these years.

Sincerely,

Life must end but love does not. It is a platitude to say, “She is in a better place.” But we know Gene, their offspring, grandones, and friends, all want the better place to be' in their/our arms'. It was once said that when we get to Heaven we'd be asked, “Who did you bring with you?” Maggie planted so many seeds of faith. She inspired and instilled the love of Christ in others, encouraging and teaching….by word but mostly example. Maggie will have led many souls to Heaven. She did it in “His quiet joy” (as she frequently said) and made us all feel truly like one of her “unique roses” (as she called those close to her). Maggie guided my Christian growth. The world is better because Maggie lived……….and the world poorer without her.
