MAUREEN STOCKER Obituary

Maureen Elizabeth (Moriarty) Stocker

aged 72, died unexpectedly but peacefully, with family sending her on to the other side on Saturday, June 9, 2018. She was third born, coming closely behind her twin sister, to parents John Paul Moriarty and Catherine Jane (Long) Moriarty on January 23, 1946. Following an illustrious education with the nuns of St. Joseph's and Central Catholic, she began her varied career of secretarial and office work at Down Town Motors, Case Western Reserve University and Stocker Law Offices. She spent the 1970's and 1980's working, raising her children and singing off key with her son's Walkman. By the 1990's she was working for the Stark County Board of Elections, from which she retired in 2013. Retirement gave Mo more time to do what she loved: working in her yard and reading mysteries. Mo had the greenest of thumbs and could have the foulest of mouths. She baked the best snicker doodles and horseshoe cookies. She adored her four grandchildren, whom she called her tigers, even when they drove her bonkers and popped portable mattresses by jumping on them. She owned more varieties of mustard than one person needs, enjoyed shopping aisle one at Marc's and never, ever threw away a bath towel. She loved old movies (her black and whites), cooking shows, and some occasional "trash tv." She would appreciate it if the Indians could just get it done and win the World Series this year.

Mo is survived by her children, Jeffry (Charlene) and Megan (Hope); her grandchildren: Owen, Quinn, Erin and Jude; three sisters and two brothers; an extremely large Irish Catholic extended family including approximately 477 cousins; friends from various parts of her life, and her former husband, Ronald Stocker. She is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Kathleen; her brother, John aka Mickey; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tom and Patricia Stocker; two great-nephews and one great-niece. It is our wish that she has joined them, wherever they may be.

Calling hours will be held at Reed Funeral Home CANTON Chapel on Thursday, June 14, 2018 from 4-6 p.m. A short memorial service will follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Canton Garden Center in Mo's memory. To send online condolences please visit:
