Maurice Eberhardt Obituary
Eberhardt Sr.
age 82 of Massillon, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010 following an extended illness. He was born Jan. 7, 1928 in Massillon and was son of the late George and Minnie (Tommer) Eberhardt. He was a veteran of World War II where he served in the U.S. Navy Landing Craft Infantry in the Pacific Theater. He was a graduate of Washington High School and president of the Class of 1948. He was co-captain of the 1947 Tigers Team. He went on to play semi-pro football for the Progressive Chevy Team. He retired from LTV Steel where he was a bricklayer for 30 years. He was a member of Bricklayers Union Local #6 for over 50 years. He was a member of Sts. Philip and James Catholic Church and K of C Council #554 - 3rd Degree. He enjoyed crafts and traveling to Florida.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Janet (Ertle) Eberhardt, sons and daughters-in- law, Chuck and Julie Eberhardt of Canal Fulton and Maurice and Michele Eberhardt of North Lawrence; four grandchildren, Chas (Michelle) Eberhardt, Laura (Brian) Mollenshott, Ashley and Katelyn Eberhardt; and two great-grandchildren, Cayden and Kylee Eberhardt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, three brothers and two infant siblings.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, Dec. 6, 2010 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Robert Miller celebrant. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens in North Canton. Visitation will be on Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Heitger Funeral Service - Massillon Chapel. For additional information, directions, or to sign the online guest book, log on to

I was sorry to hear the loss of Uncle Morrie, the man I called dad for eight years. I'm sure that my mother Ethel Mae will be chatting with him in heaven. I pray that the Lord will ease your pain through each day with the help of your family.

I remember my uncle Morrie and the times he would come to our home on Schrock Pl. in Massillon Ohio to have my mom wave his hair for his special lady "Janet".

So sorry for your loss, your father was a great person to work with and to work for. He had a wonderful whit about him and as i write these words thinking of some of his actions brings a grin to my face, i know he will be truly missed by you and your mom and all family members.
