Michael McCollister Obituary
McCollister
Barberton – 21, passed away suddenly Monday, April 7, 2014. He was employed by Pet Supplies Plus and attended Kent State Stark Branch. Michael was an avid animal lover and a loving brother and son, who always had a smile on his face.
Survived by parents, Jeff (Heather (nee Best) McCollister and Tara (nee Daly) (Tedman) Tonn; siblings, Taylor Tonn, Hannah Tonn, Bailey McCollister, Tommy McCollister and Connor McCollister; along with other family members and many friends.
Funeral service will be held Saturday 10 a.m. at Park United Methodist Church, 2308 24th St. S.W., Akron, Ohio 44314 with Pastor Linda Somerville officiating. Burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, 566 W. Park Ave., Barberton 44203. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 6100 Rockside Woods, Suite 445, Independence, Ohio 44131 in Michael's name.

I first met Michael at the Manchester PSP where I did weekend demos. I was so impressed with his passion for life and his love and knowledge of animals. We often spoke about his love of birds and his college aspirations leading him into aviary. I will miss him greatly but am honored to have known him. Please know that your son made a big impact to all lucky enough to know him...even if only for a short while.

I met Michael when working my demo's for CLA at PSP in Akron. He was so kind to me and to everyone he made contact with. I will miss his infectious smile. I will be remembering him every time I walk into the store.

Michael became known to our family when he was about five. His dad, Jeff, dated my grandaughter Heather. When they married Michael became my first great grandchild. He will always hold that place. He belonged to our family even if not our flesh and blood. When he first called me Grandma, it warmed my heart. He always had a hug and smile for me. I will miss that, but I know he is now with the Jesus he loves.

I met Michael in high school, even though he was two years below my grade, I knew then what a wonderful young man he would become. Although, I have not seen him since high school, the news touched me. I feel honored to have met and known such a wonderful person. It is true, his smile could light up the room. I've never met someone who I thought honestly deserved the whole world until I met Michael. He was great to work with and put a smile on everyone's face no matter what either of them had been going through. I've never met someone so nice and caring. I remember he was getting carts while at work shortly after closing and a man had come walking, saying he ran out of gas. Mike ran next door to the atm to get 20 dollars to give the man, I thought he was crazy. He was one of the nicest guys I have ever met. No one will ever forget you or your beautiful smile. Michael truly touched my heart for the love he had for our savior. Every time I saw him he always had his magnificent smile on so happy it could instantaneously make you happy and smile too. We give our sympathy to Michaels family. I had many talks with Michael about our merciful Lord and savior, and Michael loved The Lord, he was always talking about his relationship with Jesus and was always wanting to make sure he was pleasing him. God loved Michael for his compassionate heart and his tender ways. I remember giving him a book to read called eternal security. And now he is eternally secure with Jesus, he was adopted into the family of Christ, and that's forever. Now he is healed, and smiling bigger than ever!!!!! I just found out about Michael today and was so devastated. I met him at Pet Supplies Plus, and he honestly touched my heart. Every single time i went in, i went straight to find him and he always gave me that huge smile that made me blush. We gained a friendship, as far as seeing each other outside of his work and having friendly conversations. Up to the day i wished him a happy 21st birthday and how excited he was to turn just one year older. I will truly miss that hardworking, handsome young man who would give me extra food for my pets and not charge me for them, but make me say i wouldn't tell anyone. He defiantly made me laugh, and will be missed dearly within the community.
