Nancy Condo Obituary

Nancy L. Condo
84, of Massillon, while in the company of her husband and family, passed away quietly at
her residence on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014. Born in Atwater, Ohio, March 9, 1930, a daughter to the late Arnold 'Red' and Lillian (Colvin) Backus, Nancy was raised by her maternal grandparents, Wilson 'Dad' and Verna 'Mom' Colvin. She graduated from Massillon Washington High School with the Class of 1948, and worked for 10 years in the traffic department of the former Republic Steel Corp. in Massillon. She was a faithful lifetime member of Wesley United Methodist Church and had been one of the first co-presidents of the Swing-a-Lings Square Dance Club. She spent many years as a volunteer providing publicity and race reports for Wayne County Speedway. While her children attended WHS, Nancy was actively involved in the Tiger Swing Band Parents Organization for nine consecutive years and always remained an ardent supporter of the Massillon Tigers and the Cleveland Indians. Preceded in death by her grandparents and parents; and her brothers, Richard 'Dick' and Walter 'Walt' Backus.
Nancy is survived by her husband of 64 years, William 'Bill' Condo; and their children: Cathy (Michael) Albright, Charles (Denise) Condo and Craig Condo; also surviving are her grandchildren: Derek Condo, Kristi Albright, Daniel Condo and Jessica Albright.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014, at Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home in Massillon. Rev. Ken Kubichek will officiate and burial will follow in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Family and friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday evening, Dec. 9th., from 6-8:00 p.m., and from 10:30-11:00 a.m. Wednesday morning. The family has suggested memorial contributions in Nancy's name made in care of The Massillon Tiger Swing Band Boosters or a charity of the donor's choice. Mr. Condo, Cathy, Charles and Craig please accept my deepest sympathy on Nancys passing. She was a wonderful, classy lady. May God bless your family during this difficult time. may the beautiful memories linger in your lives help you all during this difficult time.
