Paul Adams Obituary

Paul E. Adams
Feb. 26, 1922-Oct. 19, 2012.
Paul was born in Canton, Ohio on Feb. 26, 1922 and married Geraldine "Gerry" Adams on Jan. 29, 1947. Paul enlisted in the Army Air Force on Dec. 8, 1941 and served as a radio operator on Troop Carrier planes in the South Pacific. After discharge Paul returned to Ohio State University, graduated, married, and moved to Hollywood, Calif. in 1946 to pursue song writing. With numerous semi-successful records he was accepted into the American Society of Composers Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) in 1952. As a temporary employment back-up plan which became permanent, he joined McKesson Drug Company as a sales trainee in Los Angeles. It turned into a 38 year career. He was a Division Manager in Fresno and a District Sales and Merchandise Manager for California, Nevada, Arizona and Hawaii, spending his entire working life in the wholesale drug business as a salesman, merchandise manager, sales manager, and general manager, as he moved through the company from Los Angeles to San Francisco. Paul enjoyed painting landscapes and seascapes in oil and acrylic and was for many years a member of the Clovis Art Guild and the Society of Western Artists. He was also was a volunteer docent at the Fresno Metropolitan Museum where he introduced hundreds of kids to what art was all about. Gerry and he were fishing buddies and they put their little boat on most of the beautiful lakes in the southern Sierras and they also fished the rivers and small streams. They enjoyed cruises and camping and travel as well. He was preceded in death by Gerry, his beautiful wife of 55 years, in 2002, and also by his daughter, Linda Pieper of Malibu in 2001.
He is survived by son, John of Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.; daughter, Carol Morino of Fresno; and also eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, scattered in Fresno, Southern California and the Bay Area.
A Funeral Service will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home, Fresno, Calif. on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012 at 9 a.m. Interment to follow at Clovis Cemetery, Clovis, Calif.
