Peter Kalogera Obituary

Peter (Panagiotis) J. Kalogeras 1946-2016
age 69, of St. Cloud, Fla., passed unexpectedly on March 30, 2016 at Delray Medical Center, Delray Beach, Fla. Pete was born on Dec. 24, 1946 in Queens, N.Y.
Pete is survived by his sons, John C. Kalogeras (grandchildren, Noah and Sophia) of Tampa, Fla., and son, Nick Kalogeras of Boca, Fla.; sister-in-law, Rena Kalogeras of Jackson Township, Ohio; niece, Olga Kalogeras Semertsidis (Sophia, Christo and Renna) of New Albany, Ohio; nephew John and Kim (Kimberlyn) Brecksville, Ohio; brother, George H. Condoleon (Olga, Giovana, Viviana) of Boardman, Ohio; sister, Vivian (Condoleon) and Dimitrios Koulouris (Dino, Olga, Harry) of Staten Island, N.Y. Pete was preceded in death by his parents, father, John Stamati Kalogeras from Viki, Chios, Greece; and his mother, Olga (Condoleon) Kalogeras from Warren, Ohio; a brother, Tom (Stamati) J. Kalogeras of Jackson Township, Ohio.
Pete graduated from Canton McKinley H.S. in 1965 as a highly decorated HS football player playing for Coach Don Neilen. All American, All State, All Stark County Co-Player of the Year and All City as a FB and MLB. Pete set Stark Co. and McKinley H.S. records for RB that stood for years. He was inducted into the Canton McKinley High School Hall of Fame in 1993 for his achievements. Pete went on to University of Illinois, HC Pete (Bump) Elliot and eventually to Eastern Michigan University where he was united with HC Coach Nick Coso of rival Massillon. Where once again he thrived as an All American MLB. Pete had stints with the NFL and WFL in Chicago and Cleveland. Pete was a Marine Corps Veteran of Camp Pendleton, Calif. Pete was a loving father, brother, uncle and friend. Pete eventually made his home in Florida where he was a contractor for iron construction, working in many places in the South and Caribbean Islands. Pete has many relatives in Warren, Ohio, where he spent his childhood growing up. Relatives in the NYC area and relatives in Greece. Pete was loved by many and he loved equally back.
His internment will be in Florida and memorial service will be held in either Canton or Warren at a later date to be determined to honor his life with family, friends and those who loved Pete.

Pete was my longtime friend and neighborhood pal. He attained much acclaim as an athlete, but even more so as a man. My sympathy goes out to all of Pete's family and friends.May all find peace in the memories of this admirable person.
