Robert Garrett Sever
Robert Garrett Sever, 86, of Largo, Florida, died April 6, 2007, in Palm Garden of Pinellas Nursing Home at Largo, Florida, after a long illness. A son of the late Dean and Vera Simpson Sever, Robert was born on September 20, 1920, in Tippecanoe, Ohio. Robert served during World War II in the United States Navy. He graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Robert was an Ohio licensed Electrical Engineer and retired from Ohio Power in Canton, Ohio. He was a 47-year member of Zanesville Lodge of Amity 5, F & AM, and active in the Boy Scouts. He was a member of the Central Christian Church at Clearwater, Florida. Robert's hobbies included amateur radio and working with stain glass. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by sisters, Nancy Foster and Mildred Demuth. He is survived by his wife, Martha Jane Sever; children, Dean (Linda) Sever of Leesburg, Florida, Dr. David (Marlis) Sever of Hammond, Louisiana, Vickie Siegel of Newark, Ohio, Paula Sever of Largo, Florida; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; sisters, Isabel Clark of Saint Louis, Missouri and Dorothy Winters of New Philadelphia, Ohio. Pastor Jim Borton will lead the funeral service on Thursday, April 12, 2007, at 11:30 a.m. in the Linn-Hert Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Friends are invited to call on Thursday from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be in East Avenue Cemetery immediately following the service. Those unable to attend are invited to send condolences to the family, sign an online guest registry, and view a memorial to Mr. Sever by visiting the funeral home's website. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association, 201 East Sample Road, Deerfield Beach, Florida 33064
