I've known Steve for 25 years (from St. John's choir) and was just shocked and heartbroken to hear this sad news. He was so sweet and friendly! My sympathies are with all of you.

Someone once said there are no words at time to describer feelings of loss or of joy. I am at a loss for words, first to describe the joy in the way I remember Steve. I even remember the first time he came to the station and I met him. Does anyone remember his time on-the-air, after The Night Flight called The Korte Experience? Now there is a sadness that bores deep within me as I think about losing Steve. It has been far too many years inbetween the first hello and the last good-bye. Like the lyric of a song "...gone too soon..."

I met Steve when we were growing up in Marion, Ohio. He was a great friend and was my best man when my wife and I were married. We had many good times when we were young. Please accept my deepest sympathy. The Korte family is in our hearts and prayers.

THE KORTE FAMILY:

Having been away from
Diebold for several years, I saw Steve a couple months ago at Dr. Given's office; he again demonstrated his "easy going manner and ready smile". God Bless all of you.

I have known Steve for many years as he and Diebold did business with us at Nashua. Steve was always very professional and a gentlemen and always up front. I used to tease Steve about his portable keyboard that he would pull out so that he can keep notes during our meetings. My heart goes out to the Korte family. Steve was a very special person and will be missed.

I
was unable to attend the Mass for Steve, and I wish to express my
deepest sympathies to your entire family for your loss. I have known
Steve through the American Guild of Organists, and I enjoyed seeing and
conversing with him at various Guild functions. He was such a quiet,
unassuming man who was willing to share his talents with us. I'll always
remember his great enthusiasm for recording a few disks for the Canton
Chapter. He will certainly be missed among his colleagues in the Organ
Guild.

Steve holds a special place in my heart! He encouraged me to be in the choir even though I didn't believe I could sing. He would tape music for me so I could practice extra for the Sunday services at Martin Luther Lutheran Church. He was a very kind, gentle, sweet man with such musical talent - he will be missed. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I worked with Steve for 7 years and thoroughly enjoyed his ability to recall even the smallest details and eloquently speak about any topic. Though he was often quiet in nature, when called upon he never failed to have the perfect word to fit the situation. Some of his common phrases I will always remember are "Our friends..." and "more fun than dragging a board". Thank you.

On behalf of the Canton Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, we wish to extend our sympathy to the Korte family. Steve was a long time member of our organization and will be greatly missed.

Steve was a super person. I work in the office at St. Stephen Martyr Lutheran Church and am a member. Sharing of his music talent with us was a truly wonderful gift. Everyone that came in contact with Steve felt blessed. He never had a bad word to say about anything. We will miss him each day. Our special music at our 8:00 a.m. service was the "Cradle Hymns" and it was an arrangement done by Steve. It was absolutely beautiful. Thank you for sharing Steve with us.
